About Us

I owe my introduction to the world of real estate to my mother. After leaving Los Angeles and a career as an English teacher, she moved my sister and me to a different state and took a job at a property management company.

It wasn’t long before she had established her own portfolio of investment properties and had started her own property management company. Although I was more on the peripheral, I learned a lot from watching my mother manage and grow her and her client’s investment properties, as well as her business, which she eventually sold.

Initially, I did not follow in her footsteps, electing to go into the music business and then video editing. When Dorene and I first met, she was also in entertainment and media, producing and managing for television, DVD, and audio post-production.

After getting married, we moved to Los Angeles where we bought and renovated our first home. That is when I rediscovered my love for real estate. During the course of the home renovation we made mistakes, and learned some valuable lessons. In the end, we found ourselves in financial trouble and decided that we needed to sell the house before we lost it. It was a difficult time, but a real learning experience, and it helped drive us to become experts in our field.

In 2007 Dorene and I moved back to the east coast from Los Angeles and started our companies, Blue Sky Real Estate Investments, Blue Sky Problem Property Solutions & Blue Sky Loss Mitigation Services.

Through our learning process, we’ve invested thousands of dollars and countless hours reading books, researching, and being educated by some of the best coaches, mentors, teachers and courses we could find. We discovered that not only did we enjoy the business of real estate and the art of rehabbing neglected properties, more importantly; we discovered a fulfillment in helping people.
